How to Configure RS422 COM ports

Here are instructions to configure the RS422 COM ports on ZX Cinedeck systems. The RX2 and RX3G are slightly different.

-Open File explorer, right click on the system name. Click on manage to open the computer management window.

 

-Click on Device Manager and expand Ports(COM & LPT). If you do not see the additional 5 USB Serial ports, you do not have a RS422 controller board installed.

 

-There will be 5 devices named “USB Serial Port”. Right click each one and select Properties. Look for the device with location “on USB Serial Converter”. Some Cinedeck systems may not list the location “on USB Serial Converter”, “on USB Serial Converter A”, “on USB Serial Converter B”, “on USB Serial Converter C”, or “on USB Serial Converter D” under USB Serial Port device properties. -After locating the USB Serial Port that has the location “on USB Serial Converter”, click on the port settings tab and then click Advanced.

 

-Change the COM Port Number to COM8 and click OK.

 

-You may be prompted to continue. Select Yes.

 

-Click on the OK button to save changes to the properties.

 

-We will now look at the remaining 4 “USB Serial Port” devices. Look for the device with location “on USB Serial Converter A”

 

-Select the Port Settings tab and change the values to the below picture. After the values are changed, click on Advanced.

 

-Change the values to the below picture. For RX3G and RX2 systems, Please change COM Port Number to 5. After the values are changed, click OK.

 

-You may be prompted to continue. Select Yes.

 

-Click on the OK button to save changes to the properties.

 

-Please repeat the instructions of configuring USB Serial Converter A for the remaining USB Serial Converter B, C and D. Use the following chart for COM Port Number assignment corresponding to the Cinedeck system.

 

-After all settings are configured, please restart the system for the changes to take effect.
