Managing the Cinedeck Database

As your Cinedeck will be used to ingest files which will then be moved or deleted once they have been delivered, the database will grow with each file you ingest.

 

If you are using the Cinedeck for playback this may slow down the browsing for content necessitating the periodical and refresh of the database.

This can be done by purging the complete database and rescanning folders or drives. Or by rescanning folders to update the database so it only shows media existing on the drive/s.

 

To purge the database you need to have access to the Cinedeck Server.

  1. Select setup on any of the channels.

  2. Go to the Prefs Tab

  3. Select Purge Clip Database

  4. Everything will be deleted from the Database.

To add media that is still required for playback you will need to add media to the database again. This can be done via the server or the Client UI by scanning folders/drives for media.

 

To add media/refresh media available in the Cinedeck Database via the client.

  1. Open the client App

  2. Chose a channel you would like to use for playback

  3. Click on the clapper board icon in the channel to open the clip manager

  4. Select Add Media

  5. Then browse to the drive and folder you would like added to the Database

  6. Select the folder or file/s and hit the Select button

  7. Cinedeck will add the media or will scan the folder for media to add to the Database. - This may take a while depending on the amount of media in the selected folder.

  8. Once the media is added you can select the desired clip for playback.
