Recording Media to the Cloud
Recording to cloud storage is going to depend entirely on 1) local cache size 2) bandwidth to the cloud and 3) cacheing/bandwidth on the cloud storage end.
Generally speaking, the Cinedeck application does not (and is not able) to distinguish between destination types, nor should it. It simply needs the bandwidth it needs to write the selected codec/quality for the frame rate/frame size.
So if you are having issues, there are two possibilities: 1) increase the local cache size on the “cloud drive” so that the cinedeck is able to write to fast media, and let the pipe to the cloud be what it is. 2) increase the dedicated, guaranteed bandwidth of the direct pipe to support the full bandwidth of the records, eg 8x50mbps = 400mbps * 1.5 at least = 600mbps for 8ch of XDCAM. Prores is obviously much larger, perhaps 3Gbps or more for 8ch.
Even if you have eg 600mbps dedicated to the one deck, the bandwidth both in the upload and in the write on the receiving storage end needs to be continuous, so again cacheing may come into it on the cloud side.
